Univar Solutions is a world leader in the distribution of chemistry and related products and services. However, they are more than just a distribution company, they are a global partner to their customers and suppliers.
We were asked to produce a video showcasing the testing capabilities and innovations that their Coatings, Adhesives, Elastomers and Sealants business (CASE for short) can offer from the laboratory in Middlesborough, UK. After working closely with their marketing team to produce an outline script, storyboard and shot list it was time to make the trip up to the north of England for the shoot.
Day one was spent in the laboratory with the senior lab technicians to capture the various experiments using multiple cameras to give us both wide and close ups shots simultaneously. That night we made rough edits of the experiments to use as timing guides for the following days shot. Day two was for the piece to camera utilising a three-camera setup, giving us a wide (safe) shot of the two presenters along with a camera on each of them for the close ups and 'reaction' shots.
By showing the previous days lab footage on a laptop, that was positioned off camera, allowed for the two presenters to discuss what was being seen with exact timings. This technique has proved extremely useful and makes for a much more immersive experience from the viewers perspective. This video was part of a much larger global campaign that the client was launching and we were extremely proud to learn that this became the ‘benchmark’ for all their future videos.
